Vajrapani Thankas

This handmade Thanka / Thangka is striking in appearance for its size, its image and its brocade. The main deity is Vajrapani, considered the Boddhisattva of Power. While fierce looking, he helps to overcome ignorance, craving, and escape from the endless cycle of rebirths. In his right hand, he holds the Vajra or Double Thunderbolt (also called the Double Diamond), which represents a weapon so sharp that it can cut through ignorance. Vajrapani wears a string of skulls around his head and neck and a wreath of snakes around his body.

All the elements of this Thanka - size, color, and craftsmanship - create an artwork that can serve as the main piece in any room or home. The brocade is mostly a bright red silk, which is strong enough on its own so that it won't be overwhelmed by the image.
