Green Tara Thankas

This Tibetan style Thanka / Thangka features the Mahayana Buddhist deity Green Tara. In Tibetan mythology, she is regarded as the spiritual consort of Amogasiddhi, the Fifth Dhyani Buddha.
She is considered one of the many forms of Tara, and she holds a blue lotus. Many Buddhists believe that she is the personification of goodness in virtuous women. Many also believe that she has a human incarnation as the wife of King Srang-Tsan Gampo, who brought Buddhism to Tibet.

This Thanka features a large amount of detail, particularly in the clothing and the silk brocade that surrounds the image. You will be surprised by the quality of work in this Thanka.
