This intricatley carved plaque depicts the Buddha standing on a lotus blossom (as is common in depictions of the Buddha standing), and is carved in Bali, Indonesia.

This Buddhist wall hanging measures 20 Inches Tall by 10 Inches Wide by 1.5 Inches Thick, and weighs approximately 3 lbs. It should be easy to mount on any wall.

The Buddha depicted in this wall hanging is shown stationary, which is a common pose in Laos and Burma (now Myanmar), and the Buddha is depicted with two hand gestures (known as mudra); The right hand is raised with the palm forward in the Abhaya Mudra. In the ancient Indian language of Sanskrit, this means "without fear." It is a symbol for protection and peace, or as a symbol for overcoming fear.

The left hand facing down with the palm outward is known as the Varada Mudra, and is a symbol of compassion and charity. It is often interpreted as meaning a granting of a boon from the Buddha (or from any deity that may be making this mudra). Generally it is made with the right hand except when the right hand is already making the Varada mudra, as in this wall hanging.
