Super Sale Price! This brass Kali Statue normally sells for $249, but it has been priced down since some of the Weapons that Kali normally carries have become lost, and we don't have any replacement weapons. Despite the missing pieces, this is still a very inspiring statue. Being approximately 15 inches tall and about 10 inches wide, the statue is rather large, and it weighs in at 14 lbs, so at this size, the artists have been able to impart quite a bit of detail into the facial features of both Kali and shiva.

This statue depicts the Hindu Goddess Kali after she has vanquished an evil demon that had been tormenting the other gods. Since every time the gods cut the demon with their swords and arrows, more demons would spring up from the drops of blood that spilled to the ground. Kali unrolled her massive tongue to catch the drops of blood before they reached the ground and was thus able to stop the demon from multiplying.
Unfortunately, this cause the Goddess Kali to have a lust for blood, and she went on a rampage of blood letting. Finally, her husband, Shiva had to throw himself at her feet to finally placate her.
There is another story about how Kali's name is derived from the word for time in Sanskrit. She is credited with bringing the aging process, and the destructive nature of time, into the universe, as before she came into being, nothing aged and no one grew older.
