Medicine Buddha Tibetan Buddhist Greeting Cards : These colorful greeting cards feature images from Tibetan Buddhism, in particular the major deities found in Mahayana Buddhism in Tibet and Nepal. Each card explains the meaning of the deity depicted on the card, but the inside is blank so you can compose the perfect note to a loved one or friend.
The Medicine Buddha is believed to have taught the "Four Treaties on Medicine," which forms the basis of the Tibetan healing arts. His color is the blue of lapis lazuli. The alms bowl in his left hand is made of lapis and is believed to contain the elixir of immortality. His right hand makes the gesture of giving a gift, and holds a branch of the myrobalan. The yellow fruit of this plant is said to cure illness.
It is believed by devotees that simply invoking the name of the Medicine Buddha will help heal those that can be healed and erase karma for the next lifetime from those who cannot be healed.
