White Tara T-shirts. These shirts are made in Thailand, and can be machine washed in cold water, but should be turned inside-out when washed. This shirt features images of White Tara, who is the main female deity in the Mahayana Buddhist pantheon, and she is highly revered in Nepal and Tibet. White Tara is believed to be a protector of humans in this world, looking after us on our life journey. She was born from a tear drop from Avalokiteswora, the Tibetan Boddhisattwa of Compassion. She is also believed to be his consort.
White Tara is usually portrayed seated, dressed and adorned like a Boddhisattwa. She is also portrayed having seven eyes, one on each palm, one on each foot, and one on the forehead. These extra eyes help her seek and assist those who are suffering all over the world.
Believers often perform rituals for White Tara in order to improve health and prolong their life. She gives spiritual energy to those who visualize her. Many of the practices devoted to White Tara have been passed down through the Karmapas and Dalai Lamas.
