An exquisite wall calendar that brings you the delightful artwork of Japanese Geishas, along with images of other females, in the style of Bijinga. This form of artwork evolved in the early part of the 20th century in Japan, and was based primarily on displaying the grace and elegance of Japanese women in simple and modern (for that time) style.
Unlike more formal styles of portraiture in Japan - which primarily dealt with the royal court - Bijinga instead focused on detailing the beauty of the everyday women of Japan, whether they were the trained artisans known as geishas, or whether they may have been common housewives or servants.
The artwork that illustrates this calendar is from the Zentner Collection, which, for over a quarter of a century, has specialized in antiques and collectables from Asia.
