Paper Parasols and Asian Umbrellas from Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand. While we think these paper aprasols are classic looking, they were also featured as "one of the hottest trends for the Summer of 2008" in Star Magazine. The city of Chiang Mai is known for the beautiful arts and crafts, and these Asian parasols are just one example of the craftsmanship there. Each of these colorful paper parasols (or sun umbrellas) are 32 Inches in Diameter, and the handle (which is straight - not curved) is about 32 inches long as well. They are extremely popular at our stores, and people love how they offer shade from the hot summer sun.
Parasols available in Blue, Green, Lavender (our favorite color), Natural Solid / Plain, Natural with Butterflies and Bamboo, and Pink colors.
But many people use these parasols for decorating their homes, office and apartments, while we have also had many dance troupes and theater companies order in bulk from us to use as props or display on stage. We have two at our home that we use as screens for some very bright lights.
These parasols are made from several layers of paper and are durable enough for every day use. In fact, they block more light than our cloth parasols do. Bring along some heavy duty tape and you can tape them to the back of a beach chair for hands-free use the next time you go to the beach, have a picnic, go to a music festival or any outdoor event.
Please note that these parasols have NOT been tested nor rated for effectiveness at blocking UV rays. While we suspect they are somewhat effective, always take precautions when you will be out in the sun, such as applying sunscreen recommended to you by your doctor, and use other forms of sun protection to keep you safe from UV rays.
