These great natural Hemp and Sea Shell Necklaces have been seen everywhere. You have probably noticed them being worn by actors on TV and by A LOT of models lately. Once you try them on, you will know why they are so hot. First, the strands are made from hemp, which is one of the most durable materials around (did you know that the first pair of Levi's Blue Jeans were made from hemp?) This helps prevent them from fraying or wearing out too quickly.
Plus the shells on them come in all sorts of different designs, and if you really don't like sea shells, we have a couple of hemp necklaces that have beads or a Chinese Coin instead. But whatever style you pick, you will look like you just walked off the set of a TV show or a model's runway.
By the way, here are some more Hemp fun facts: Hemp is one of the most eco-friendly plants around. BMW is experimenting with hemp materials in automobiles as part of an effort to make cars more recyclable. Presidents Washington and Jefferson were hemp farmers, and Jefferson drafted the Declaration of Independence on hemp paper. Hemp seeds are more nutrious than soybean.
During the Second World War, the US Government subsidized hemp farming. The US Department of Energy believes that developing fuels from hemp will help reduce our dependance on highly polluting fuels such as oil, coal, and nuclear energy. Hemp is so durable that the Columbia History of the World states the oldest relic of human industry is a bit of hemp fabric dating back to approximately 8,000 BC.
