Kwan Yin Statues: This is a cast bronze Rupa or statue of Kuan Yin (also known as Quan Yin and Kwan Yin), the Goddesses of Mercy and Compassion. Her name translates as The One Who Hears the Cries of the World, and she is the Chinese representation of the Boddhisattva Avalokiteswara.
Kuan Yin is believed that a Bodhisattva (or Boddhisatva, as it is sometimes spelled), was a human who has forsaken the final stage of enlightenment in order to help all earthly beings attain enlightenment first. This contemporary piece is given a slightly aged look, so it appears similar to an antique work.
This image of Kuan Yin shows her in her multiple arms form (it is said that she can have thousands of arms). She is standing on the back of a Lotus, which is often used as a symbol for purity.
Made in Thailand 11 x 5 x 3 inches
