This is a Sandstone staute of Kuan Yin, Chinese Goddess of Compassion and Mercy. Kuan Yin is the one who "Hears The Cries of the World," and is called upon to help those in trouble.

Kuan Yin is beloved all over Asia, but she is probably most loved in China, where the first stories of Kuan Yin's appearance are from. Kuan Yin's appeal is so broad that she is the patron saint of barren women (who look upon her to help bestow fertility) as well as the patron saint of sailors (who often find themselves at the mercy of the seas).

This black sand stone statue of Kuan Yin displays her in the Royal Ease Pose, with right hand resting on right knee, and the left hand resting upon her supporting lotus blossom. This is one of the more common poses of Kuan Yin, but this statue has a look to it that is different than most common depictions.

This is a rather large stone Tara statue, and measures 12 inches tall by 5 inches wide by 5 inches deep. This statue is also heavy, weighing nearly 16 pounds. Please note that Kuan Yin is often spelled as Quan Yin or Kwan Yin, but they are all the same Goddess. It is appropriate for both indoor and outdoor use, and you will often find this type of statue in the garden. ^Height: 12 Inches | Width: 5 Inches | Depth: 5 Inches | Carved In: Bali
