Ganesh Statues from Thailand; There are two sizes of this Ganesh Statue available. Ganesh is the elephant headed God of Wisdom and Success. Ganesh is believed to oversee auspicious beginnings and can remove obstacles. These statues of one of the most popular deities in Hinduism are made in Thailand of cast bronze. There are two sizes available.
Ganesh is one of the sons of Siva, and his elephant head is a symbol of his immense wisdom. In this image he holds a trident in his right hand, which symbolizes the beginning, protection, and destruction of the universe (or Brahma, Vishnu and Siva). In his left hand he holds a noose, a symbol of man's attatchment to material desire. Ganesh has only one tusk, since it is believed he broke off the right tusk and used it to inscribe the Mahabarata, one of the major Hindu religious works.
As the God of Success, his image is to be worshipped before any other gods during Hindu rituals. But Ganesha is also prayed to before starting almost any venture, no matter how large or small, such as starting a trip or vacation, buying a new car or house, writing a new book or other artistic activity or almost anything else.
This statue is available in two sizes. The Small Size Ganesha Statue is 6.5 x 5 x 4 Inches. The Large Size statue is 7.5 x 7.5 x 7 Inches. They look exactly the same except for the size difference.
