Angkor Wat is one of the true wonders of the world and this resin Apsara Statue shows off the beauty of the artwork from that period. Based on actual stone carvngs found at this legendary temple, this bust is 8.5 inches tall by 3 Inches Wide by 2 Inches deep, and shows off some of the skill and creativity of the artists from that time period.

Apsaras are the wives of the court servants (Ghandharvas) of the God Indra (God of the Heavens). At Indra's court, the Apsaras would sing and dance, their performances intoxicating all who saw. In fact, it is believed that some of the legendary traditional Indian dancers throughout history were descendants of the Apsaras. Other Apsaras were believed to become the wives of heroic soldiers who fell in battle, joining with them at death to lead them on to paradise.

But not all Apsaras are created equal; there is a lower class of Apsaras who are somewhat equal to what we would call fairies, and they were responsible for much mischief, often luring men into danger.
