Tara shirts By Buddhaful: These long sleeve layered shirts are made of 100% cotton and are machine washable. They feature images of the Tibetan Goddess Tara (see below for more information), and are available in several colors. They are ready made layered (sometimes called a twofer style, as in two-for-one), so while the shirts are actually one piece, it looks like you are wearing a short sleeve t-shirt over a long sleeve jersey.

About Tara: Tara is the great goddess of Wisdom and Compassion, and is adored in Tibet and Nepal. There is evidence dating back 30,000 years of depictions of Tara in cave walls. She is the embodiment Of wisdom and compassionate, the eternal mother who brings forth life. The word Tara, in the ancient language of Sanskrit, means star or stellar.
In Tibetan Buddhism, there are many different deitites, but even higher than these deities are the Buddhas, those who have reached enlightenment and is no longer bound by the endless cycle of rebirth (samsara). Tara is so highly venerated in Tibetan Buddhism that she is known as the Mother of all the Buddhas.
In the modern world, Tara still has very important role in the lives of Tibetans. It is said that those who are flleing persecution of the Chinese in Tibet will pray to Tara for safe passage to India.
