The word "Om" is held sacred by hundreds of millions of people throughout the wold. It is the Universal Sound that existed before the Universe was born. Indeed, their was originally only the cosmic vibration from this sound, and the Universe evolved from the energy of this sound.
The sacred syllable Om is uttered at the beginning and end of every Hindu prayer, and many believe that the word Amen, used in Christian prayers, is derived from the word Om. There are also similar sounding syllables used in Islamic and Hebrew prayers as well, so the sound of Om might be more universal than many people realize.
