Hi all,
I just wanted to say how happy I am to hear that so many Americans are helping out with the Tsunami relief effort. I am also impressed with all the creative ideas that people are using to help bring attention to the cause.
My friend Amar, who is the owner of Bansuri Spring Gallery ( www.bansuri.net ) is one example of a person doing his part. His parents are originally from India (his dad is the well-known Bansuri flute player G. S. Sachdev) and he is putting on benefit concerts by some of the local Bay Area musicians. Some of the proceeds from these concerts will go to help those affected by the Tsunami.
You can see a brief description of those upcoming concerts if you go to his nosweatshops.org page, at:
http://www.bansuri.net/nosweatshops/index.html
as you can probably tell from the name of his web site, he focuses on those products that are considered fair trade and that do not use child or exploited labor.
He is just one example of how much compassion and caring there is in the USA. I encourage all those who have a passion for the arts, or business or sports, to think outside the box and see if you might be able to find a creative way to help those in need.
Till Next time,
Ms. Jay
