Begin by spending five minutes at the beginning of
the day remembering that we all want the same things,
to be happy and be loved, and that we are all
connected to one another.
Love and happiness are what everyone wants even
though sometimes we are not able to admit it to
ourselves. Perhaps because we believe we don’t
deserve it or we’re afraid we’ll never have it.
The first step to getting something we want
is to admit that we want it. By cherishing ourselves,
then others, we can start to tend the seeds of love
in our hearts so that they can grow and bloom into
a full flowering of love and happiness.
Now, take five minutes to breathe in - cherishing
yourself - and breathe out - cherishing others.
If you think about people you have difficulty cherishing,
extend your cherishing to them anyway.
When and Where: Throughout the day, extend this attitude to everyone
you meet. Practice cherishing everyone from the clerk in the
supermarket to your least favorite client to your
partner or parent or children; cherish the people
you love (including yourself) and the people you dislike.
Benefits: This technique is an invitation to allow yourself to feel
the boundless love and appreciation that already
