and his bumping, heavily positive vibing band, which is sure to rock the Vardo down Gypsy style. Sila and the AfroFunk Experience have exploded onto the Bay Area world music scene with an irresistible blend of traditional African and Afro-Latin rhythms, slinky guitar, and Sila's syrupy Swahili and English vocals. The 9-piece also throws some crucial reggae skank and hip-hop swagger into the mix, resulting in an upbeat, multiculti celebration that's guaranteed to keep you glued to the dance floor.

DJ SEP, Electric Vardo RESIDENT, takes over the Prana Temple after Ultra gypsy's set for a late night stir of ancient and modern rhythms from the lands afar, putting you into a trance of whirling on the dancefloor. Before you know it, the sun will be rising and you can't stop dancing. i Electric Vardo RESIDENT AMAR takes the Afrofunk experience across the globe into sultry rhythms of africa, south america, and the near east, blending balkan melodies with brazillian thythms, punjabi celtica and beats to where his mood and the crowd take him.

NITE VIBE PICS of the week: www.nitevibe.com - this is what Nitevibe thinks of the following events this week:

Event: Electric Vardo

Venue: Blue Cube

DJs: Sila and the Afrofunk Experience (live), Soulsalaam, Maneesh the Twister, Nihal, Jimmy Love, Sep, Ultra Gypsy (live dance), Amar Music: worldbeat, afrofunk, dub Cover: $10 presale / $15 Door Everyone knows recurring parties need a hook, whether it be a musical or festive theme, a cause worth supporting, or, in true SF style, a mix of many such things. Every second Saturday the Vardo collective - Sep, Dragonfly, Amar, and the tantalizing Ultra Gypsy Dance Theater, for starters - promises a solid mix of cross-cultural music, dance and food. Tonight, additional tunes from Soulsalaam and Sila and the Afrofunk Experience are set to keep this monthly rolling at a fever pitch. Although food will be served all night, dinner reservations begin at 7:30. Book your presale tix and cuisine via this site. (JR)
