Hi again, All:
I just wanted to follow up about our brief blog about Chinese New Year. If you are interested in Bangkok, and in particular about the Chinese population in Bangkok, there is a very detailed article about some of the Chinese Temples there in today's edition of the Bangkok Post Online.
Many of the Chinese shrines are dedicated to, or have statues of Kwan Yin (also known as Chao Mae Kuan Yu in Thailand). You can read more by clicking this link to Kwan Yin the Chinese Goddess of Compassion.
To view the article, you have to register with them (for free). I don't seem to get any spam from them, so I don't think there is a problem with giving your email address to them.
In short, the article talks about the location and styles of Chinese Temples in Bangkok, also detailing the history of when they were built and which particular groups of people built them.
