These Wooden Om Wall Hangings have beveled edges, and measure 9 inches across (and about 8 inches tall). These wall plaques depict the sacred Om Symbol, which is not only used at the start of Hindu prayers, but is also the symbol for Universal Energy and Oneness. This is one of the original wooden Om signs that we started selling many years ago.
The Om sign has a significant meaning in Hinduism. It is believed that at the start of time when the universe was still void, there was only the sacred sound of Om, and that all the material in the word unfolded from the energy of this sacred sound. It is also believed that the three parts of this sound (the beginning, middle, and end), represent the creation, sustaining, and regeneration of the universe.
