The Hindu Goddess Durga (often referred to as Mother Durga) is a celestial warrior, sent by the gods in heaven to help conquer a demon whose power could not be overcome. The deities combined their energies (known as shaktis) into the goddess Durga, and each god bestowed one of their personal weapons upon her. Where all the other gods had failed, Durga was able to overcome the evil Buffalo demon and saved heaven from destruction.
