Harbor House Foundation: Ending Child Prostitution in Thailand
The Foundation is located half way between the center of Mae Sai and the Golden Triangle, where the borders of Thailand, Burma and Laos convene. The Foundation shelters 25-30 girls who are between 10 and 16 years old. Those who belong to families with members already in the flesh trade, or broken families with drug and/or alcohol addiction, and those who suffer physical/sexual abuses from family members, have been given priority to be accepted in the Foundation. Harbor House aims to develop constructive attitudes, self-esteem, self-reliance and independence in the target groups. We are dedicated to creating a new generation of young women with the potential to become responsible mothers and members of their communities.
Harbor House is primarily financed by domestic donation. The contributions come in the form of foster parents programs which cover only a part of the girls' expenses, such as food and scholarships. Occasionally, the Foundation receives funds from UNICEF and the Development Cooperative Foundation. Your contribution will greatly help these at-risk youth. Donations can be in the form of a certified check or money order to the Harbor House Foundation, and can be sent to their Bangkok Office, below. Also, your purchase of items with the Harbor House Foundation logo also helps to support the organization.
