Tingsha from Nepal, handmade by Himalayan craftsmen. Tingsha are used in ceremonies and rituals in Tantric Buddhism (which is known as Vajrayana Buddhism, or Diamond Vehicle Buddhism in the West). Tingsha are also used as aids to relaxation and meditation. We have three different styles of Tingsha to chose from.

These Tingsha are made from the finest bell metal, and when you strike the edges together, you get a pure, sustaining tone. Our Tingsha come in two unique styles. They are 2 and 3/4 inches across.

These Tingsha are available in the following styles:

  • Om Signs (not in photo above)
  • Dragons
  • Jewel in the Lotus Mantra (Om Mani Padmi Hum)

  • The first style has four images of the Om Sign on them. The Om symbol has over 1,000 meanings, but it is generally associated with Creation (and Creativity), Purity, and Energy.

The second features a Dragon motif around the top. The dragon is a symbol of wisdom, power, and righteousness in many parts of Asia.

Note that with either style, the images are raised up from the surface of the Tingsha (as opposed to being engraved into the metal). This helps the Tingsha maintain their wonderful tone and prevents damage from cracking. We know you will be delighted no matter which style you choose.

The third Style has the Om Prayer embossed on the top, which is Om Mani Padmi Hum (meaning the "Jewel in the Lotus Blossom," a very common chant in Buddhism). (Om is often spelled as Ohm or Aum).
